Today I participated in an International Women’s Day event organised by the  Food For Thought Network, where I was honoured to meet and sit on a panel with the illustrious Prof. Gillian Triggs, President of the Australian Human Rights Council.

Her presence and brilliance were a feat to behold. Articulating what’s so wrong with our mistreatment of indigenous Australians, refugees, asylum seekers and women – this was an on point presentation without embellishment.

Still reeling from the impact of her words and those of my fellow panelists, Manningham Mayor Jennifer Trang, entrepreneur of Seven Women, Stephanie Woollard and 16 year old Alexandra Durous, – showing courage and determination against the odds.

This event brilliantly facilitated by Maria Dimopolous, attracted a full house showing solidarity for women’s efforts in a climate of perpetual struggle
