I met with the Governor of Victoria, H.E. Linda Dessau at Government House this morning . It was a fortuitous opportunity to discuss issues of diversity and social inclusion within Victoria, particularly as they impact my work as a Crosss Cultural Consultant and Chair of the Australian Muslim Women’s Centre for Human Rights.

To her credit, the Governor who has been in this role for merely eight weeks, is already making great strides in reaching out to representatives  from Victoria’s diverse communities, to develop genuine rapport and negotiate collaborative ideas.

I was genuinely impressed with her willingness to mobilise her platform to promote issues of minority voices. As the first female in this role, Governor Dessau is both a credit to Australian women and her Office. Her warmth and sincerity were clear, as was her awareness of the enormous traction that exists in leveraging the resources of multicultural Victorians to progress this State.
