For Dianella Health’s Harmony Day Celebration at Hume Global Learning Centre in Craigieburn, I was delighted to delivers a keynote address. On this UN International Day for the Elimination of Racism, I called out privilege and systems of governance that aren’t representative and gave a shout out to the culturally diverse trailblazers in our midst who are central to effecting change.

There were also numerous artists including the Sankalana Cultural Dance Academy performing a stunning Sri Lankan traditional dance. Deb Anscombe and Nayana Bhandari sharing work of the Multicultural Women’s Group. Asher, performing a traditional Assyrian dance. Hayfa Polat and Fatah Moualla giving insight into the Nissa Al Benfasage Group who support newly arrived refugee women from Syria and Iraq, Then Poonam Kaur delivered a graceful Bollywood number, and finally some evocative songs from Aseel Tayah who sang in Arabic about mothers as today is Mother’s Day in Palestine and the Middle East.
A superb effort and kudos to Dianella Population Health not just for this event, but also for ensuring your community’s wellbeing is your central agenda!
