What an honour to witness tributes to the AMAZING Jackie Huggins AM at a #Breakthrough pre-conference tonight. This accomplished Indigenous leader, activist, author (Sistah Girl)and human rights advocate has lived an example of being the change she seeks to make. Diligent, fiesty, compassionate and authentic – her body of work is testimony to the Indigenous movement in this country that works hard to represent the First Nation’s people. She is Co-Chair of the National Congress of Australia’s First People – the only national body of elected Indigenous representatives and has dedicated her life to promoting indigenous women’s voices. This was a beautiful celebration of leaders, colleagues and friends of Jackie, showcasing tributes spoken and musical. The tempo of powerful women resonated strong.
