Was delighted to feature as a panellist today for Hume City Council’s ‘Leading Change Seminar’ for women in Hume.
This incredible seminar targeted a select group of 15 participants aspiring to lead change in the wider community through their networks but who were still understanding the power and influence they have to effect change.
My co-panellists included Ros Spence MP, member for Yuroke, Helen Patsikatheodorou, Mayor of Hume and Sonia Vignjevic, an Executive Manager with over 16 years’ experience in the multicultural sector.
I was blown away with the calibre of the participants from diverse cultural, age and professional backgrounds, each living examples of success over adversity. I’m optimistic that Hume might experience significant surge in community resilience with a local government so invested in its agents of change. I wish more councils could appreciate and leverage their pool of talent.
My parting remarks to the group included:
“Women have long been waiting for a place at the table which men expect them only to set. It’s time we stop waiting for a place- and just take it!”
