On Friday November 1st, Tasneem co-produced the book launch of Melbourne based sensation, Luka Lesson’s debut book ‘The Future Ancients’.

‘The Future Ancients’ is a collection of Luka Lesson’s best poetry pieces and rap verses. Part poetry collection, part notebook, The Future Ancients includes open spaces for the reader to pen their own lines and QR codes which link through an easy smart phone scan to audio or video recordings of Luka’s performances, giving the reader a fully interactive experience.

A record of 30 poems written from 2008-2013, it takes the reader from the Greek coastlines of his ancestors, through reflections of Australia’s dark history and into pockets of philosophy and love. The Melbourne book launch is set for Friday 1st November, 7:00pm at the Malthouse. The much awaited  launch of ‘The Future Ancients’ will feature Luka with an extended intimate performance unique to this event,  the launch of a new video and will feature a number of special guest performers including:

Background
Luke Haralampou, aka Luka Lesson, is a spoken word and Hip-hop artist of Greek heritage from Australia.

With two years of international touring, 11 Writers’ Festivals, 7 years of workshop experience and almost ten years of writing under his belt, Luka has written commissioned and performed for the likes of The Nuyorican Poets’ Cafe (NYC), The National Gallery of Victoria, Trinity International Hip-hop Festival, Greece’s pioneer Hip-hop group ‘Active Member’ and China’s most celebrated living poet Xi Chuan in Beijing. He is also the Australian Poetry Slam champion of 2011 and Melbourne Overload Poetry Festival slam champion of 2010.

Following  Melbourne, Luka will be attending the Beijing Writers Festival to launch his book there.
