This weekend I had the opportunity to deliver a workshop on ‘Media Readiness & Advocacy’.
In our current socio-political climate in which tropes about minorities are exploited for optimal sales, countering this narrative has frequently fallen on community leaders to respond.
The participants were a diverse group of young leaders from the Dept. Of Premier & Cabinet’s Multicultural Youth Network and members of the Youth Congress.
I covered points about understanding media landscapes fit for message purpose, speaking with intent and tone, as well as presentation tips for radio and tv interviews and a QnA with an ABC journalist.
The attendees from across Victoria, hailed from diverse cultural backgrounds, showing clear capacity to lead and engage with the wider public on issues that mattered.
Cannot wait to see them represent on the front lines very soon !
