Prayers continue for a nation in mourning today. No doubt, emotional healing will take longer than the physical rebuilding, if at all. The scale of this tragedy is difficult to comprehend – but acts of support, empathy and material aid are a practical way we can start to manage the grief.

I was overwhelmed to learn blood donations already from Lankans of all faiths, Buddhist, Muslim, Christian and Hindu, were so numerous they had to turn away donors. THIS is the demonstration of love for community and country that I have seen to be the Sri Lankan ethic.

May this be the way forward to conquer division

May these be the stories that lead.

May these be the ways that we heal.
