This morning the @islamicmuseumaustralia’s enjoyed its sixth #MorningTea. Kudos to the volunteers lead by Wafa Fahour who once again pulled off a seamless event enjoyed by a sold out crowd. From the food, table settings and hospitality – the logistics were on point. Top that off with superb emceeing from the amazing Sherene Hassan – and a guest speaker who LIT UP THE ROOM in Yasmine Abdelmagied and you have the makings for a pretty unbelievably fine Wednesday!
This author of ‘Yassmin’s Story’ shared events and moments that shaped her life thus far. From motor cars, oil rigs and starting up an NGO, Yassmin’s acquisition of Young Australian of the Year finalist this year, came as no surprise! Her humour, candour and passion made for a captivating talk; Yassmin embodying a ‘can-do’ attitude that leaves no room to question her commitment.
I’m looking forward to being in conversation with her next Friday for Latrobe Uni’s ‘she’s the first’ series, where we’ll be talking ‘Islam & Feminism’- plus so much more.
As for today, it was a mighty good day!
