Today I travelled to Hamilton, in Western Victoria to address the Southern Grampians  Shire Council on, ‘Diversity Dividends’. My keynote formed a component of the Council’s proactive approach towards adopting a Diversity & Inclusion policy as part of their Work Development Plan. While cultural diversity in this region is relatively lower than the state average, there was acknowledgement from the executive that they were keen to see this increase. Population shortfalls adversely impact economic development in rural areas. As Hamilton encourages more migration to bolster its prospects, they will transition to this new phase with a conscious diversity and inclusion framework an integral component of their workplace.

Kudos to their vision and progressive approach towards Multiculturalism. The Southern Grampians Shire Council have set the bar high for many a council in Victoria- and within Australia.

These sessions and the amazing people I meet along the way are an affirmation to me that despite the toxicity of right wing rhetoric, good people know and do better.
