I was bowled over with this gift from #mooneevalleycitycouncil after speaking at their ‘Youth Iftar’ tonight. A full house of attendees, I noticed East African numbers dominated ?? . This Iftar was a genuine delight to be a part of:))
As part of Refugee Week, Flemington Community Centre hosted this dinner, developed and delivered by local young people for guests across all cultural backgrounds,to increase understanding, respect and reduce racism.

I sought to share stories to inspire regardless of race, gender or class and specifically spoke about the role of activism and why it matters.
Other speakers included spoken word sensation, Abe Nouk; Richmond player & AFLCultural Ambassador, Bachar Houli; and head of Minaret College Middle School, Omar Marzouk.
Kudos to the organisers, Aiya and Mahier, for coordinating a terrific event in spite of the arctic temperatures about Melbourne. #walkingthetalk #makeanoise #makeitloud #makechangehappen #ramadandiaries
