Today I watched national netball champions of Australia, Diamonds V’s New Zealand’s Silver Ferns, battle neck to neck in the international netball Quad Series.
This was a heady mix of palpitations and relaxation on a Sunday afternoon, proving to be a delightful game! I’m thrilled our Diamonds took out a swift win in the final quarter of 60:55! Goooo Diamonds!
A huge thanks to Netball Australia for making this opportunity possible. It’s been decades since I’ve either played or attended a netball match and I can honestly say it was a joy to revisit the game. Our Diamonds provided non-stop action, as brilliant athletes who kept the audience wrapt with their deft skills and top game.
If you haven’t had a chance to catch a netball match – check it out. Australian women’s sports doesn’t get anywhere near the recognition it’s due. Our athletes are world class – and our sporting and media industry owes them the credit they deserve. The sold out audience is testimony to this iconic game holding a special place in the sporting lives and loves of thousands.
