This evening I had the opportunity to guest speak at the #AHPRA #NRAS combined dinner for their biannual national conference.

Seated amongst a few hundred experts in the field of health regulation in this country, I got to appreciate the joint efforts invested in adhering to the regulations’ code of conduct. The calibre of these people was incredible.

Aside from media-hyped bad press stories, we rarely glimpse the behind-the-scenes efforts professionals commit towards improving health outcomes for patients as well ensuring training for professionals is in line with the psycho-social needs of the population. Emphasis on achieving specific outcomes for indigenous health, linked to the Reconciliation Action Plan are among conference goals planned.

My presentation addressed achieving excellence in culturally inclusive practices – for which I referenced, the AHRC’s recent – Blueprint for cultural change in leadership.

In all, an informative night for both sides. It was a pleasure to be invited to present to this cohort of Directors representing 12 health disciplines.
My learning curve keeps inclining. Gotta love that.
